The heart of the Helgøy island is «Fila», the renovated old municipal building, that was built in the year 1900.
The left-wing party used Fila as a central for local activities, but also as a place to live. In 1936 Helgøy Kommune bought the house and used it as administration until 1964 where Helgøy Kommune was subordinated Karlsøy Kommune.
Today the house is renovated according to modern standards, but without losing its soul and historical charm. You can sit in the wintergarden and enjoy the view over the sea, while the fire crackles in the old fireplace.
Practical information
The mansion consists of 4 bedrooms with a total of 10 beds in the main building and 5 beds in the neighbouring house. We have 3 bathrooms with shower and toilette. You will find a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and two livingrooms with an amazing view over the sea.
The outdoor Jacuzzi has space for up to 10 people and offers a relaxing alternative to observe the Northern Lights. You find many shorter and longer hiking possibilities on the island and a fishing boat can be rented.
The mansion is large enough to hold business meetings, where one can use the existing projector and canvas. We also offer Wi-Fi.
Our aim is to operate in a sustainable way that balances the economy of the place with social and environmental interests to maintain such old and historic places like Helgøy. Also your security is important for us and therefore you find first aid kid and defibrillator in Fila.

From Tromsø airport it is a one hour and 15 minutes drive to Dåfjord on Ringvassøy island. Helgøy is only accessible by boat, so transportation will be arranged from Dåfjord. After a 20 min boat ride you get out to the Helgøy. This makes your stay even more exclusive.
